THE
AKROPONG DISTRICT TODAY
Since then, this age-old large District became a single congregational
District. And so those of you who were familiar with the Akropong
Presbyterian Church knew that whenever one talked about Akropong
District, one was referring to the Christ Presbyterian Church.
We know that, God moves in mysterious ways and so there are
several things He does that one can never explain. With the
upsurge of ‘Operation 2-1-2’ by the then ELTC
of the PCG, two more satellite churches were opened in the
North-Eastern and the South- Western parts of the town.
These
two satellite Churches, which were later inaugurated and christened,
as Grace and Peace respectively
nine years ago, have become forces to reckon with. Grace is
currently under the pastoral care of the Rev. Raymond Tieku
Baah Abekah with Messers Edward Sampson and Ebenezer Abboah-Offei
as the Catechist and Snr. Presbyter respectively. The Session
Clerk is Mr. L.A. Oware. Peace on the other hand has the Rev.
Anokye Nkansah as the Pastor; Mad. Beatrice Yirenkyi is the
Catechist, Mr. Paul Osafo-Affum as the Snr. Presbyter with
Ms. Augusta Ankama as the Session Clerk.
At
the Christ Church, Reverend Georgina O. Lartey and I are the
Pastors with Col. H.L. Ofosuapea and Mr. C.B. Duedu as the
Snr. Presbyter and Catechist respectively. Mrs. Joyce Vera
Ofei is the Clerk.
The
Akropong District is a complete representation of the Presbyterian
Church of Ghana (PCG). The first letters of the names of the
three congregations in the District, Peace, Christ and Grace
also form the PCG that we all belong to. And so here, ‘That
All May Be One’, which is the motto of the PCG is very
paramount to us as a District.
The
following are our District Officers:
Rev. G.O. Kwapong is the District Minister,
Mr. Joe Banson, the District Clerk
Mr. Lawrence Boadi, Director of Finance,
Rev. Anokye Nkansah, the Director for Ecumenical and Social
Relations,
Rev. R.T.B. Abekah, Church Life and Nurture,
Mrs. Esther Joyce Acquah, Development and Social Services
and
Mr. E. Abboah-Offei, Missions and Evangelism. We are so proud
of them for the marvelous services they render to the District.
If the District is moving, it is because these dedicated persons
are working assiduously.
Rev.
G. O. Kwapong District Minister

All
the PCG recognized Groups are functioning quite well in all
our three congregations. In addition to those ones, we also
have a 71 year old group known as ‘Kristo Nsraafo’,
who operate like the Singing Band. Infact, they used to be
called, Singing Band number II. The late Reverends R.O. Danso
and Otto Boateng started it.
In Akropong is the famous Grace Deliverance Team, known for
her active involvement in healing, deliverance and revival
services. They serve as good ambassadors for Akropong. Wherever
they been, they have brought joy, comfort and hope to many
homes. Of late their activities have taken them beyond the
shores of Ghana, especially to South Africa, United Kingdom
and the United State of America.
