A
BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BIBLE STUDY AND PRAYER GROUP.
After the 37th Synod in 1966, the Bible Study and Prayer Group
(BSPG) formally gained the recognition of the then Synod to
exist and operate in the Church as a Group. In 1986, the group
was given a further designation as the main evangelistic instrument
for the propagation of the Gospel in all the Presbyteries
and Mission Fields.
In
Akropong, the local Group was formed under the interim leadership
of Mr.Justice Darko Awere, Mr. N.A Siaw, Mr. Sakyi Addo, Mr
& Mrs I. K. Amponsah, Mrs. Owusu Bamfo and Mrs. Augusta
Darko. In 1985, the BSPG was inaugurated and Mr. N.A. Siaw
became the substantive President with Messers Darko and G.O.
Kwapong as the Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively.
In
1990, Mr. Ebenezer Abboah-Offei became the President of the
Group. His spiritual dynamism and with the able support of
his wife and a few brethren changed the face of the BSPG.
A Deliverance Team was formed and through regular retreats,
conference, workshops and training programmes, they were able
to form the Deliverance team and sowers team to serve as evangelism
wing of the Church. As of now, the deliverance team is seriously
embarking on evangelism work and through their good effort,
many souls have been saved and a lot of backsliders have renewed
their memberships.
In
early 1996, it was agreed by the session that additional Churches
should be established in the locality. The group has played
a very important role in building a solid foundation for all
the various activities in the Church, with the help of some
devoted members. The Church has two branches and the N. O.
P., which are functioning very remarkably.
In
conclusion, we are grateful to God for all that He has done
for the Group. It’s our fervent prayer that His presence
will lead us all the time. We also express our deepest gratitude
to all members who have helped both in cash and kind. It is
hoped the Lord Almighty will continue to shower His blessing
upon us all. Peace be unto you, Amen.
